I am a Licensed Professional Counselor - Mental Health (LPC-MH) in South Dakota. I completed my masters’ level work at the University of South Dakota and graduated in 2011. I completed my PhD in Counseling and Psychology in Education from USD in May 2016. I am committed to working with individuals who have experienced trauma and am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.  I am also trained in EMDR and completed training for Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) in New York City. My advanced training also includes completion in the Gottman Method of working with couples. Helping couples reconnect and commit to one another on a deeper level continues to be extremely rewarding for me.

Working with adults who have suffered trauma and the devastating effects that follow is especially important to me. If you have experienced traumatic events, including abuse as a child or adult, you may feel numb, empty or you may have strong emotional reactions that seem out of your control. While in trauma therapy, you can replace the negative view of yourself with a more realistic and positive thoughts. You are not responsible for the trauma that was inflicted on you; however, you can regain control of your life, rebuild your ability to trust yourself and others.   • I have over ten years of counseling experience as an LPC. My counseling career began at The Compass Center in Sioux Falls where I worked with clients who had endured domestic violence, had a history of childhood trauma, and were victims of sexual, physical, and psychological abuse. Next, I was a counselor at the Student Counseling Center at the University of South Dakota. There I provided counseling to numerous students who coped with issues such as body image, relationships ending, suicidal thoughts, and issues related to identity, including sexuality, gender identification, and personal values that conflicted with family and peers.
