I am a licensed professional counselor - mental health (LPC-MH) as well as a licensed addictions counselor (LAC). I am also a qualified mental health professional (QMHP) and a nationally certified counselor (NCC). I am certified in Neuropsychotherapy (NPT-C) and trained in EMDR. I received my BS in Psychology and Communication Studies and my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from USD. I completed training in the Gottman Couple’s and Family Therapy method (level 1 and level 2). I also have training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

I specialize in therapy for young adults, helping them explore and define their identity in a changing world.  I treat anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem/personal identity concerns, emotional stress, life transition difficulties, substance abuse, and other mental health challenges that many people face.  My goal is to help my clients learn more about who they are and how they can live a healthy life in today’s world.

I also specialize in relationship counseling for couples.  I help couples work through conflict,  strengthen emotional connections, and nurture a healthy relationship.  I am trained in the Gottman method and work with couples on increasing communication, intimacy, empathy, and understanding in their relationship.

 
 

  • I have a wide array of mental health-related experience. I interned at the Human Services Center in Yankton, SD, where I was able to facilitate groups and work with adolescents on an individual basis. I spent a year working at New Start which is an inpatient facility for women struggling with addictions and transitioning back into parenthood. My Master’s internship was completed on the adult units of Avera Behavioral Health, and I worked at Southeastern Behavioral for a year after graduating. Collectively, I have worked with populations inpatient, outpatient, at school, and at home.
